Chandigarhites pay tribute to CDS Gen Rawat by Lighting Candles at Sector 17

Large number of residents of city beautiful including students, shopkeepers, housewives and youth turned late last evening in Sector 17 in Chandigarh to pay tribute to CDS General Bipin Rawat,  his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 defense personnel who lost their lives  in a tragic helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu .

Candle light tribute was organised by common citizens and netizens of Chandigarh. A prayer meeting and lighting of candles was part of the tribute for the departed souls.

“We lost our Chief of Defence Staff, General Vipin Rawat, along with 11 of our finest soldiers and a lady wife . A soldier is always ready to lay down his LIFE , the ultimate price, to protect our freedom and keep us safe from the enemies” said Ms Ujala Arora, The chief organizer of the tribute program..

 “By respecting a soldier, live or dead, we express  our gratitude to those brave men. And we express our love and patriotism for our country. This is the only humble way we could pay homage to the departed soldiers  and show their love for their country” said Gurjot Singh, who has come all the way from Punjab to pay the tribute.

“we gathered to salute brave hearts who lost their lives in the heart wrenching tragedy in the line of duty”’ said young Shivam Arora while paying the tribute .
