A cool and confident Chandigarh based girl Kanika Raheja made us all proud when she was crowned as Mrs. Universe West Asia 2016 on 11th June 2016 at Sylvan Chef Farm, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. She walked the ramp wearing a beautiful blue gown designed by Althea- the fashion studio and flaunted a gorgeous wine lipstick which pretty soon became the talk of the town.

She was one of the 5 delegates with international titles and Tiaras. The delegates were judged on the bases of parameters like talent, intelligence, poise and elegance. Mrs. Kanika Raheja will represent her title at the prestigious Mrs. Universe 2016 to be held this year in China. In this beauty pageant, BJP leader and “Mrs Universe West Asia 2015” Smt. Ruby Yadav did the crowning ceremony in presence of senior political leaders, Ambassadors of many countries & people from fashion world. When asked Kanika said that the process of selection was rather grilling and that she realized in the whole process that beauty pageants are not all about the external beauty but they are about how beautiful you are from inside in the sense of what sort of community work you do and how you give back to the society.

Kanika completed her post-graduation from St. Stephen’s College (D.U), and is now pursuing her doctorate degree in medical physics from Sri Venkateswara College, (D.U.) while working on cancer treatment. Kanika believes ” No Matter how long or short you get to live your passions , you should live them anyway” and she gives the whole credit of her success to her Husband Mr. Parminder Singh Raheja and her In-laws Satinder Singh and Ishtpal Raheja for always encouraging her and letting her dream big.

She has been actively involved with NGO’s like UDYAAN CARE and HELPAGE INDIA in the past years. She had worked with ‘HelpAge India’ for creating awareness and raising funds in the year 2004 and 2006.She was also a member of Social Service Society of her college in the year 2007-08. During that time, she worked in various fields including campus cleaning, Blood donation camps etc.

She had also served as the president of women development centre of her College in the year 2008-2009.During that time, She addressed areas like women empowerment, self-defense, women achievers etc. She has been associated with ‘UDYAAN Care’ in their Big Friend-Little Friend project where she has helped children from the slums of Delhi to utilize all the opportunities available to them and acquire a proper education for a better tomorrow. This beautiful lady from sector 21 who stands out in her own elegant way has made her sector and the whole Chandigarh truly proud And we wish her the best and hope she brings us the crown of Mrs. Universe 2016.
