PARKASH PURAB of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji

PARKASH PURAB marks the birth anniversary of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, the founder of Sikhism. It is a day of reverence and reminder for the devotees to follow the teachings of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in a town named Rai- Bhoi-Di-Talwandi, now called Nankana Sahib, near Lahore in Pakistan in 1469.

On this auspicious day, devotees around the world gather at Gurudwaras to celebrate Guru’s Birthday and his teachings. Gurudwaras are decorated gracefully and devotees chant sacred hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed us the path of peace and harmony. Guru Sahib constantly emphasized three fundamental principles: always assisting the poor and needy, living honestly, and remembering God’s name. He advised people to be guided by love and global brotherhood rather than wrath, greed, and selfishness. His message of devotion to God and excellence of conduct can help in transforming society.

Guru ji brought a social and religious revolution by introducing a concept of ‘SANGAT and PANGAT’, where people would pray together and eat together, irrespective of caste, colour, creed or faith.

In Dwarka Sub City, the celebration has started with ‘Prabhat Pheri Kirtan’ every day early morning w.e.f. 4-11-2023 to 27-11-2023 for around 24 days.
