Residents Protest to close the Wine Shop in Dwarka

Sub:- Support required for the Closure of Wine Shop in Sec-6 Post Office Market.

We, the office-bearers of 16 societies request you on behalf of the womenfolk of our societies to help close the wine shop which is just in the middle of Sector 6, Post Office Market where we residents are facing huge number of problems as the wine shop has become a nuisance in this area. This shop is located adjacent to The Govt. Sr. secondary School less than 100 mtrs distance away( against the very norm of opening such a shop by DSIDC making it completely illegal )as well as there is a huge DDA park and it becomes convenient for the drinkers to sit and drink there and do other anti- social activities.

Even though we have all the necessary groceries and other basic needs available in this market, we are not able to go for purchasing these items because of the nuisance created by the drunkards around the wine shop. The drinkers park their cars on the road and drink near it in the open without fear and for making it more convenient, they even break the road lights giving an opportunity to thieves and other criminals to commit crime.

Apart from above mentioned this area is fully a residential area which has two government schools nearby apart from some private schools. The wine shop is also setting a bad example for the school going children who walk to the school through this way. You must be aware of the fact that the criminals involved in the Brutal gang rape in Delhi were also drunk. This has made the residents more worried since the roads at the back are fully dominated by drunkards after 6 or 7 p.m.

We feel that considering the safety of the residents of this area we request you to remove this wine shop on emergency basis. The ladies of our societies have also arranged a massive protest rally on 16th Feb.2013, Saturday, 5pm in front of the wine shop for the same.
