Bharatiya Bhasha Pariwar: A New Framework in Linguistics
The book Bharatiya Bhasha Pariwar: A New Framework in Linguistics explores alternative perspectives on the study of Indian languages by re-examining long-standing colonial and Eurocentric frameworks that classified them into rigid ‘families’. Drawing on insights from multidisciplinary perspectives, it highlights the possibility of viewing India’s languages as co-evolving expressions within a shared civilisational continuum. The book critically engages with the Aryan Invasion/Migration narrative, tracing its historical roots and presenting evidence of cultural and linguistic continuities across Indian languages and traditions. Rather than proposing a single uniform view, it advances a paradigm that emphasises commonalities in Indian languages and cultural frameworks, while also acknowledging the rich diversity and uniqueness of each language.
Collected Studies on Bharatiya Bhasha Pariwar: Perspectives and Horizons
This volume is out of a national effort to reimagine Indian languages as an interconnected family rather than as an isolated frame. Drawing on research from linguistics, anthropology, cognitive science, pedagogy, and artificial intelligence, the anthology illustrates how Indian languages share structural, cultural, and cognitive foundations shaped by millennia of interaction. Each chapter, from studies of linguistic commonalities to explorations of AI-driven translation models, underscores how multilingualism continues to sustain India’s unity in diversity.
