International webinar on Consumer movement in India

While participating in the Amrit Mahotsav of the Government of India, RJS-TJAPS KBSK’s Amrit Saga 43 International webinar on 35 years of consumer movement in India and paying tribute to the great men. Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker Internationally renowned consumer policy expert Prof.  Bijan Mishra said that by making consumer protection a career and engaging the youth, the consumer movement will be strengthened.  To recruit qualified persons in government and companies one should get a degree in consumer protection.  Today the need is to make proper use of the Consumer Welfare Fund and make a habit of boycotting the shops selling substandard goods and complaining about them. 

The international webinar was successfully organized under the leadership of Uday Manna, National Convener of Ram-Janki Sansthan (RJS), New Delhi and Somen Kole, Secretary, Tapsil Jati Adivasi Pratakanna Sainik Krishi Bikash Shilpa Kendra, Guntegeri, Hooghly West Bengal.  There was huge participation in the webinar not only from the country but also from abroad and about 95 people joined.  Others watched it live on YouTube.  The opening remarks in the webinar were done by RJS Observer Deep Chandra Mathur and welcome addressed by Sudip Sahu.  Om Prakash Jhunjhunwala and Dr. Pushkar Bala, in-charge of RJS Positive Information Centre, Patna and Jamshedpur also welcomed the chief guest.  The vote of thanks was given by Surjit Singh Kohli Deewar, in-charge of RJS Information Center Patel Nagar Delhi. 

Uday Manna, Convener of RJS and Director of the webinar said that Professor Bijan Mishra in his address shared his experiences and efforts in 35 years of consumer movement in India, how he organized consumer protection in Jamshedpur under the guidance of Manubhai Shah, the pioneer of the consumer movement.  After taking the responsibility, due to your efforts, during the tenure of the then Chief Minister Bindeshwari Dubey in Patna, the consumer law was first implemented by Justice RN Thakur sitting in the verandah. Phir Jago Grahak Jago’s facilitator, Professor Bijan Mishra, has contributed to the making of consumer movement in Delhi for years and today is continuously awakening from Hyderabad. 

In the tribute session, RJS positive speakers paid tribute to the great men and freedom fighters and told their biography.  These included Isaac Khan, Dr. Meena, Suman Kumari, Dr. Munni Kumari, Kamini Kumud, Renu Srivastava, Dr. Pushkar Bala, Prem Prabha Jha etc. Other dignitaries from the country and abroad include Ramaiah ji, Prafulla, Nagendra Prasad, Anand Patwardhan, Narendra Prasad, Dr. BR Jagashetty, Dr. AK Merchant, Jugal Saluja, Prakash Jha, Ramamurthy, Prakash ji, Rajan Verma, SK Iqbal, BC Patnaik.  , Anand Dwivedi, Dr. Munni Kumari, Dr. Meena, Punan Balam, Dr. Pushkar Bala, Shashank Dev Sudhi, Jorae Singham, Deepa Bhushan, Alka Mukhi, Dr. Anil Johri, Dr. Munni Kumari, Raghavendra Singh, Neera Arora, Sumesh Khanna, Satish  Panigrahi etc. were involved.  Every Sunday under RJS webinar, the forty-fifth issue of the elixir of freedom, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, on Sunday 23 January, RJS-TJAPS KBSK annual program – Nation Pratham Vande Mataram will be organized.  In this RJS Positive Bharat-Uday Bhawan Project 2022 @ Delhi will be launched.
