3. COLA COMPANIES EXEPMTED FROM MENTIONING INGREDIENTS

You will not be able to know the list of ingredients on bottles of cola companies, but you will know the nutritional value of the drink, this was said by the government.  Earlier, the CIC has slapped a fine of Rs. 25,000 on the PIO of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India on an appeal to Central Informaion Commission filed by Shri S C Agrawal, a prominent RTI activist.  The exemption for publishing because of Cola Companies plea that it re-uses the empty bottles.

However, after the introduction of disposable plastic bottles many years ago, there is no re-use of cola bottles and plea of Cola companies is untenable.  Not mentioning the name also amount to the denial of right to know about the product which we are consuming.  Govt. should order the Cola companies to publish the details of ingredients used in the drink and let the consumers decide themselves about the nutritional value.
